Research

The material for our Non-Public School Services programs is based on leading educational research including research from the National Reading Panel, the National Research Council, and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Our materials for our Non-Public School programs include research-based reading and math curricula.

Our Non-Public School Services reading program comprehensively addresses the findings of the National Reading Panel and the five key concepts necessary for a successful reading program: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension.

Our Non-Public School Services math program is supported by research on cognitive development and the learning of mathematics. Much of the research has been cited by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) and the National Research Council. Our Non-Public School Services programs emphasize choosing specific strategies that relate to particular math situations.

These include strategies for:

  • understanding problems
  • representing problems
  • breaking down multi-step problems
  • interpreting data to solve problems

Our Non-Public School Services programs place a repeated and cumulative stress on mental math and estimation as strategic problem-solving skills, and includes open-ended assessments in which students are encouraged to choose solution paths and taught how to explain their reasoning and justify their conclusions.
